Krzywa przestrzenna, wektory T ≡ {\displaystyle \equiv } t , N ≡ {\displaystyle \equiv } n , B ≡ {\displaystyle \equiv } b i płaszczyzna ściśle styczna rozpięta na wektorach T , N i o wektorze normalnym B . Wzory Fréneta , wzory Fréneta-Serreta – wzory wyrażające zależności pomiędzy wektorami tworzącymi krawędzie tzw. trójścianu Freneta, zaczepionymi w pewnym punkcie badanej krzywej i określającymi jej geometryczne własności przestrzenne w tym punkcie.

Z punktem P {\displaystyle P} na krzywej przestrzennej K {\displaystyle K} można związać dwa lokalne układy ortogonalnych osi liczbowych. Pierwszy z nich jest nieruchomy, prawoskrętny i określony przez wersory i , j , k . {\displaystyle \mathbf {i} ,\,\mathbf {j} ,\,\mathbf {k} .} Drugi prawoskrętny układ wersorów t , n , b {\displaystyle \mathbf {t} ,\,\mathbf {n} ,\,\mathbf {b} } jest związany z krzywą i określa trzy istotne kierunki: styczny, normalny i binormalny. Dwa pierwsze wyznaczone są przez wersory

gdzie:

Jeżeli krzywa S {\displaystyle S} leży na płaszczyźnie π {\displaystyle \pi } o normalnej w , {\displaystyle \mathbf {w} ,} to wektor binormalnej b {\displaystyle \mathbf {b} } do tej krzywej w każdym jej punkcie jest stały i b = w . {\displaystyle \mathbf {b} =\mathbf {w} .} Płaszczyzna π {\displaystyle \pi } jest w tym przypadku płaszczyzną ściśle styczną dla dowolnego punktu krzywej S . {\displaystyle S.}
W analizie przestrzennych właściwości krzywych istotną rolę odgrywają pochodne wersorów krawędzi trójścianu Freneta.
Na podstawie wzoru (1.1) mamy
t ′ = N = 1 ρ n {\displaystyle \mathbf {t} ^{'}=\mathbf {N} ={\tfrac {1}{\rho }}\mathbf {n} } (1.4)
i różniczkując wzór (1.3) , otrzymujemy
b ′ = t ′ × n + t × n ′ = N × n + t × n ′ = t × n ′ , {\displaystyle \mathbf {b} ^{'}=\mathbf {t} ^{'}\!\times \mathbf {n} +\mathbf {t} \times \mathbf {n} ^{'}=\mathbf {N} \times \mathbf {n} +\mathbf {t} \times \mathbf {n} ^{'}=\mathbf {t} \times \mathbf {n} ^{'},} (1.5)
ponieważ N {\displaystyle \mathbf {N} } i n {\displaystyle \mathbf {n} } są kolinearne. Ponadto z (1.5) wynika, że b ′ ⋅ t = 0 , {\displaystyle \mathbf {b} ^{'}\cdot \mathbf {t} =0,} a ponieważ również b ′ ⋅ b = 0 , {\displaystyle \mathbf {b} ^{'}\cdot \mathbf {b} =0,}
więc
b ′ = 1 τ n , {\displaystyle \mathbf {b} ^{'}={\frac {1}{\tau }}\mathbf {n} ,} (1.6)
gdzie 1 τ = T {\displaystyle {\frac {1}{\tau }}=T} jest torsją krzywej w punkcie P , {\displaystyle P,} określoną wzorem (1.8) .
Teraz można już obliczyć pochodną normalnej głównej, korzystając ze wzoru n = b × t {\displaystyle \mathbf {n} =\mathbf {b} \times \mathbf {t} }
n ′ = − ( t × b ) ′ = − t ′ × b − t × b ′ = − 1 ρ n × b − 1 τ t × n = − 1 ρ t − 1 τ b = − κ t − T b . {\displaystyle {\begin{aligned}\mathbf {n} ^{'}&=-(\mathbf {t} \times \mathbf {b} )^{'}=-\mathbf {t} ^{'}\!\times \mathbf {b} -\mathbf {t} \times \mathbf {b} ^{'}\\[1ex]&=-{\frac {1}{\rho }}\,\mathbf {n} \times \mathbf {b} -{\frac {1}{\tau }}\mathbf {t} \times \mathbf {n} \\[1ex]&=-{\frac {1}{\rho }}\,\mathbf {t} -{\frac {1}{\tau }}\mathbf {b} =-\kappa \mathbf {t} -T\mathbf {b} .\end{aligned}}} (1.7)
Poniższa tabelka zawiera kosinusy kierunkowe wersorów Freneta osi stycznej, normalnej i binormalnej z kierunkami osi 0 x , 0 y , 0 z . {\displaystyle 0x,\,0y,\,0z.}

Torsję krzywej można obliczyć, korzystając ze wzoru (1.6) po uwzględnieniu (1.1) i (1.5)
T = 1 τ = b ′ ⋅ n = = ( t × n ′ ) ⋅ n = [ t × ( ρ N ) ′ ] ⋅ ρ N = = [ t × ( ρ ′ N + ρ N ′ ) ] ⋅ ρ N = = ρ 2 ( t × N ′ ) ⋅ N = − ρ 2 ( r ′ × r ″ ) ⋅ r ‴ = = − ρ 2 | x ′ y ′ z ′ x ″ y ″ z ″ x ‴ y ‴ z ‴ | , {\displaystyle {\begin{aligned}T&={\frac {1}{\tau }}=\mathbf {b} ^{'}\cdot \mathbf {n} =\\[1ex]&=(\mathbf {t} \times \mathbf {n} ^{'})\cdot \mathbf {n} ={\big [}\mathbf {t} \times (\rho \mathbf {N} )^{'}{\big ]}\cdot \rho \mathbf {N} =\\[1ex]&={\big [}\mathbf {t} \times (\rho ^{'}\mathbf {N} +\rho \mathbf {N} ^{'}){\big ]}\cdot \rho \mathbf {N} =\\[1ex]&=\rho ^{2}(\mathbf {t} \times \mathbf {N} ^{'})\cdot \mathbf {N} =-\rho ^{2}(\mathbf {r} ^{'}\times \mathbf {r} ^{''})\cdot \mathbf {r} ^{'''}=\\[1ex]&=-\rho ^{2}\;{\begin{vmatrix}x^{'}&y^{'}&z^{'}\\x^{''}&y^{''}&z^{''}\\x^{'''}&y^{'''}&z^{'''}\end{vmatrix}},\end{aligned}}} (1.8)
dzięki temu, że ( t × N ) ⋅ N = 0. {\displaystyle (\mathbf {t} \times \mathbf {N} )\cdot \mathbf {N} =0.}
Torsja T {\displaystyle T} określona w dowolnym punkcie P {\displaystyle P} krzywej K {\displaystyle K} wzorem b ′ ⋅ n {\displaystyle \mathbf {b} ^{'}\!\cdot \mathbf {n} } stanowi pewną miarę zwichrowania tej krzywej w bliskim otoczeniu punktu P . {\displaystyle P.} Polega ono na wychylaniu się krzywej z jej płaszczyzny ściśle do niej stycznej w tym punkcie. Gdy torsja ma wartość zerową krzywa w otoczeniu punktu P {\displaystyle P} jest płaska, bez zwichrowania.
Zapis parametryczny Dana jest krzywa przestrzenna K {\displaystyle K} opisana parametrycznie równaniami[2]
x = x ( t ) , y = y ( t ) , z = z ( t ) . {\displaystyle x=x(t),\quad y=y(t),\quad z=z(t).} (1)
Na tej krzywej wyróżnimy dwa punkty P o ( x o , y o , z o ) , {\displaystyle P_{o}(x_{o},\,y_{o},\,z_{o}),} P 1 ( x 1 , y 1 , z 1 ) {\displaystyle P_{1}(x_{1},\,y_{1},z_{1})} odpowiadające dwom wartościom t o , t 1 {\displaystyle t_{o},\,t_{1}} parametru t . {\displaystyle t.} Przez te punkty przechodzi sieczna opisana równaniem
x − x o x 1 − x o = y − y o y 1 − y o = z − z o z 1 − z o . {\displaystyle {\frac {x-x_{o}}{x_{1}-x_{o}}}={\frac {y-y_{o}}{y_{1}-y_{o}}}={\frac {z-z_{o}}{z_{1}-z_{o}}}.} (2)
Dzieląc mianowniki przez t 1 − t o {\displaystyle t_{1}-t_{o}} i przechodząc do granicy t 1 → t o , {\displaystyle t_{1}\to t_{o},} otrzymujemy równanie linii stycznej do krzywej K {\displaystyle K} w punkcie P o {\displaystyle P_{o}}
x − x o x ˙ o = y − y o y ˙ o = z − z o z ˙ o , {\displaystyle {\frac {x-x_{o}}{{\dot {x}}_{o}}}={\frac {y-y_{o}}{{\dot {y}}_{o}}}={\frac {z-z_{o}}{{\dot {z}}_{o}}},} (3)
gdzie przez x ˙ o , y ˙ o , z ˙ o {\displaystyle {\dot {x}}_{o},\,{\dot {y}}_{o},\,{\dot {z}}_{o}} oznaczono pochodne względem parametru liczone w punkcie P o . {\displaystyle P_{o}.}
Równanie o postaci (3) jest konsekwencją kolinearności wektorów r − r o {\displaystyle \mathbf {r} -\mathbf {r} _{o}} i r ˙ o . {\displaystyle {\dot {\mathbf {r} }}_{o}.}
Równanie płaszczyzny normalnej σ o {\displaystyle \sigma _{o}} (prostopadłej) do krzywej w punkcie P o {\displaystyle P_{o}} można zapisać w postaci[2] iloczynu skalarnego wektora stycznego do niej z dowolnym wektorem leżącym w płaszczyźnie σ o {\displaystyle \sigma _{o}}
r ˙ o ⋅ ( r − r o ) = x ˙ o ( x − x o ) + y ˙ o ( y − y o ) + z ˙ o ( z − z o ) = 0. {\displaystyle \mathbf {\dot {r}} _{o}\cdot (\mathbf {r} -\mathbf {r} _{o})={\dot {x}}_{o}(x-x_{o})+{\dot {y}}_{o}(y-y_{o})+{\dot {z}}_{o}(z-z_{o})=0.} (4)
Równanie płaszczyzny ściśle stycznej π o {\displaystyle \pi _{o}} do krzywej w punkcie P o {\displaystyle P_{o}} zapiszemy w postaci
H o ⋅ ( r − r 0 ) = A ( x − x o ) + B ( y − y o ) + C ( z − z 0 ) = 0. {\displaystyle \mathbf {H} _{o}\cdot (\mathbf {r} -\mathbf {r} _{0})=A(x-x_{o})+B(y-y_{o})+C(z-z_{0})=0.} (5)
Problem polega teraz na tym, aby określić współrzędne A , B , C {\displaystyle A,\,B,\,C} takiego wektora H o , {\displaystyle \mathbf {H} _{o},} który byłby prostopadły do płaszczyzny ściśle stycznej π o . {\displaystyle \pi _{o}.}
Rozważmy równanie takiej płaszczyzny π 1 , {\displaystyle \pi _{1},} na której leży styczna i która
przechodzi przez punkt P o {\displaystyle P_{o}} – a zatem każdy jej wektor r − r o {\displaystyle \mathbf {r} -\mathbf {r} _{o}} jest prostopadły do H 1 : {\displaystyle \mathbf {H} _{1}{:}}
H 1 ⋅ ( r − r o ) = A 1 ( x − x o ) + B 1 ( y − y o ) + C 1 ( z − z 0 ) = 0 {\displaystyle \mathbf {H} _{1}\cdot (\mathbf {r} -\mathbf {r} _{o})=A_{1}(x-x_{o})+B_{1}(y-y_{o})+C_{1}(z-z_{0})=0} (6)
oraz
każdy wektor r 1 − r o {\displaystyle \mathbf {r} _{1}-\mathbf {r} _{o}} leżący na płaszczyźnie π 1 {\displaystyle \pi _{1}} jest prostopadły do H 1 : {\displaystyle \mathbf {H} _{1}{:}}
H 1 ⋅ ( r 1 − r o ) = A 1 ( x 1 − x o ) + B 1 ( y 1 − y o ) + C 1 ( z 1 − z 0 ) = 0. {\displaystyle \mathbf {H} _{1}\cdot (\mathbf {r} _{1}-\mathbf {r} _{o})=A_{1}(x_{1}-x_{o})+B_{1}(y_{1}-y_{o})+C_{1}(z_{1}-z_{0})=0.} (7)
Wektor H 1 {\displaystyle \mathbf {H} _{1}} jest również prostopadły do wektora stycznego r ˙ o , {\displaystyle {\dot {\mathbf {r} }}_{o},} który leży na π 1 : {\displaystyle \pi _{1}{:}}
H 1 ⋅ r ˙ o = A 1 x ˙ o + B 1 y ˙ o + C 1 z ˙ o = 0. {\displaystyle \mathbf {H} _{1}\cdot {\dot {\mathbf {r} }}_{o}=A_{1}{\dot {x}}_{o}+B_{1}{\dot {y}}_{o}+C_{1}{\dot {z}}_{o}=0.} (8)
Wykorzystując wzór Taylora zamiast (7) , możemy napisać
A 1 ( h x ˙ o + 1 2 h 2 x ¨ λ ) + B 1 ( h y ˙ o + 1 2 h 2 y ¨ λ ) + C 1 ( h z ˙ o + 1 2 h 2 z ¨ λ ) = 0 , {\displaystyle A_{1}(h{\dot {x}}_{o}+{\tfrac {1}{2}}h^{2}{\ddot {x}}_{\lambda })+B_{1}(h{\dot {y}}_{o}+{\tfrac {1}{2}}h^{2}{\ddot {y}}_{\lambda })+C_{1}(h{\dot {z}}_{o}+{\tfrac {1}{2}}h^{2}{\ddot {z}}_{\lambda })=0,} (9)
gdzie h = t 1 − t o , λ = x o + θ h , 0 < θ < 1. {\displaystyle h=t_{1}-t_{o},\quad \lambda =x_{o}+\theta h,\quad 0<\theta <1.}
Po uwzględnieniu (8) i (9) otrzymujemy
A 1 x ¨ λ + B 1 y ¨ λ + C 1 z ¨ λ = 0. {\displaystyle A_{1}{\ddot {x}}_{\lambda }+B_{1}{\ddot {y}}_{\lambda }+C_{1}{\ddot {z}}_{\lambda }=0.} (10)
Można teraz z (8) i (10) wyznaczyć niewiadome A 1 B 1 , C 1 {\displaystyle A_{1}\;B_{1},\,C_{1}} i na podstawie (6) otrzymuje się, po przejściu do granicy t 1 → t o {\displaystyle t_{1}\to t_{o}}
( y ˙ o z ¨ o − z ˙ o y ¨ o ) ( x − x o ) + ( z ˙ o x ¨ o − x ˙ o z ¨ o ) ( y − y o ) + ( x ˙ o y ¨ o − y ˙ o x ¨ o ) ( z − z o ) . {\displaystyle ({\dot {y}}_{o}{\ddot {z}}_{o}-{\dot {z}}_{o}{\ddot {y}}_{o})(x-x_{o})+({\dot {z}}_{o}{\ddot {x}}_{o}-{\dot {x}}_{o}{\ddot {z}}_{o})(y-y_{o})+({\dot {x}}_{o}{\ddot {y}}_{o}-{\dot {y}}_{o}{\ddot {x}}_{o})(z-z_{o}).} (11)
Tak więc wektor H o {\displaystyle \mathbf {H} _{o}} prostopadły do płaszczyzny ściśle stycznej ma współrzędne
A = y ˙ o z ¨ o − z ˙ o y ¨ o , B = z ˙ o x ¨ o − x ˙ o z ¨ o , C = x ˙ o y ¨ o − y ˙ o x ¨ o . {\displaystyle A={\dot {y}}_{o}{\ddot {z}}_{o}-{\dot {z}}_{o}{\ddot {y}}_{o},\quad B={\dot {z}}_{o}{\ddot {x}}_{o}-{\dot {x}}_{o}{\ddot {z}}_{o},\quad C={\dot {x}}_{o}{\ddot {y}}_{o}-{\dot {y}}_{o}{\ddot {x}}_{o}.} (12)
Przez punkt P o {\displaystyle P_{o}} krzywej K {\displaystyle K} przechodzą trzy wzajemnie prostopadłe płaszczyzny tworzące trójścian Freneta [3] :
ściśle styczna (o wektorze normalnym H 0 ( A , B , C ) {\displaystyle \mathbf {H} _{0}(A,B,C)} ) – równanie (5) i (12) , normalna (o wektorze normalnym r ˙ 0 ( x ˙ 0 , y ˙ 0 , z ˙ 0 ) {\displaystyle \mathbf {\dot {r}} _{0}({\dot {x}}_{0},{\dot {y}}_{0},{\dot {z}}_{0})} ) – równanie (4) , prostująca (o wektorze normalnym G 0 ( L , M , N ) {\displaystyle \mathbf {G} _{0}(L,M,N)} ) – prostopadła do dwu poprzednich. Jej równanie ma postać
G o ⋅ ( r − r o ) = L ( x − x o ) + M ( y − y o ) + N ( z − z o ) = 0. {\displaystyle \mathbf {G} _{o}\cdot (\mathbf {r} -\mathbf {r} _{o})=L(x-x_{o})+M(y-y_{o})+N(z-z_{o})=0.} (13)
Wektor G o = ( L , M , N ) {\displaystyle \mathbf {G} _{o}=(L,\,M,\,N)} jest prostopadły do obydwu wektorów H o = ( A , B , C ) {\displaystyle \mathbf {H} _{o}=(A,\,B,\,C)} i r ˙ o = ( x ˙ o , y ˙ o , z ˙ o ) {\displaystyle {\dot {\mathbf {r} }}_{o}=({\dot {x}}_{o},\,{\dot {y}}_{o},\,{\dot {z}}_{o})} i dlatego muszą być spełnione dwa równania
H o ⋅ G o = A L + B M + C N = 0 , {\displaystyle \mathbf {H} _{o}\cdot \mathbf {G} _{o}=AL+BM+CN=0,} (14)
r ˙ o ⋅ G o = x ˙ o L + y ˙ o M + z ˙ o N = 0. {\displaystyle {\dot {\mathbf {r} }}_{o}\cdot \mathbf {G} _{o}={\dot {x}}_{o}L+{\dot {y}}_{o}M+{\dot {z}}_{o}N=0.} (15)
Rozwiązanie równań (13) i (15) ma postać wzorów

Krawędziami trójścianu Freneta są proste:

Zachodzą przy tym następujące tożsamości

Przypuśćmy, że r ( s ) {\displaystyle \mathbf {r} (s)} opisuje gładką krzywą w R n , {\displaystyle R^{n},} sparametryzowaną przez długość łuku s {\displaystyle s} oraz że pierwsze n {\displaystyle n} pochodnych r ( s ) {\displaystyle \mathbf {r} (s)} jest liniowo niezależnych . Geometrycznie oznacza to, że krzywa r ( s ) {\displaystyle \mathbf {r} (s)} nie zawiera się w żadnej hiperpłaszczyźnie o wymiarze n − 1 {\displaystyle n-1} (ani w żadnej płaszczyźnie o niższych wymiarach). Wektory układu Freneta są bazą ortogonalną skonstruowaną przy pomocy ortogonalizacji Grama-Schmidta wykonanej na wektorach r ( s ) , r ′ ( s ) , r ″ ( s ) , . . . r ( n ) ( s ) . {\displaystyle \mathbf {r} (s),\,\mathbf {r} ^{'}(s),\,\mathbf {r} ^{''}(s),\,...\,\mathbf {r} ^{(n)}(s).}
W szczególności, jednostkowy wektor styczny r ( s ) {\displaystyle \mathbf {r} (s)} jest pierwszym wektorem układu Freneta e 1 ( s ) {\displaystyle \mathbf {e} _{1}(s)}
e 1 ( s ) = r ′ ( s ) . {\displaystyle \mathbf {e} _{1}(s)=\mathbf {r} '(s).} Wektor normalny e 2 ¯ ( s ) , {\displaystyle {\overline {\mathbf {e} _{2}}}(s),} czasami nazywany wektorem krzywizny, wskazuje odchylenie krzywej od stycznej linii prostej. Jest zdefiniowany jako

Pozostałe wektory układu Freneta (wektor binormalny, trinormalny itd.) są zdefiniowane w sposób analogiczny jako:
