In 1904, a fire broke out in 1904 and it the distillery forced to shut during Would War I. It reopened after the ending of the war, but never recuperated the former quality of the whisky.[2]
In 1930 Towiemore was closed but its warehouses and maltings continued to be used for some time util was finally demolished.[1]
In 2016 The Lost Distillery Company released a blended malt called Towiemore using using historical information to try to replicate Towiemore's lost whisky.[1][3]
