The Great Discovery is a 2008 action film based on Thomas & Friends. The film features Thomas discovering a lost town known as Great Waterton, as well as facing jealousy with a new tank engine, Stanley. The film was narrated by Pierce Brosnan for both the UK and US dubs.

The Great Discovery was the last Thomas special to use the models while series 12 would be the last season to use the models completely.
