Simran Sharma (born 9 November 1999) is a visually-impaired para-athlete.[1] She is a gold medalist at the World Championships and a double silver medalist at the Asian Para Games. She qualified to represent India at the 2024 Summer Paralympics at Paris.[2]

Personal life

In November 17, Sharma married her coach Naik Gajendra Singh. He is posted at New Delhi's 227 company of the Army Service Corps.[1]

Career

Sharma took part in China Grand Prix and World Para Grand Prix at Dubai in 2021. She became the first Indian para athlete to qualify for the Tokyo Paralympics in 2021, but she did not get any medal.[3]

She was selected for the Indian team to take part in the 2022 Asian Para Games at Hangzhou, China[4] where she won two silver medals in the 100m and 200m T12 events.[5][6] At the Asian Games, she clocked 12.68 seconds for 100m on 24 October 2023 and 26.12 seconds for 200m on 26 October 2023.[3]
