Ojo Encino is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in McKinley County, New Mexico, United States, on the Navajo Nation. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.[3]

The community is in the northeast corner of the county, 29 miles (47 km) by road west of Cuba and 120 miles (190 km) northeast of Gallup, the McKinley county seat. It is on the west side of the valley of Encino Wash, a southeast-running tributary of Torreon Wash, Arroyo Chico, and eventually Rio Puerco, a tributary of the Rio Grande.

Education

The Bureau of Indian Education operates the Ojo Encino Day School, a K-8 school.[5] As of 2023[update] it has 25 employees and 173 students.[6]

Ojo Encino is in the Gallup-McKinley County Schools school district.[7] Zoned schools are: Crownpoint Elementary School in Crownpoint, Crownpoint Middle School in Crownpoint, and Tseʼ Yiʼ Gai High School.[8]
