Marisa Howard (née Marisa Vander Malle, born August 10, 1992)[1] is an American athlete who specializes in the 3000 metres steeplechase. She won the silver medal in the women's 3000 metres steeplechase at the 2019 Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru.[2][3][4] Representing Team USA, Howard placed 4th in 3000 m steeplechase at the 2023 Pan American Games.[5]

In 2024, Howard qualified for the Olympic Games in Paris by placing third at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 3000 meters steeplechase. [6]

Professional

Howard became a Boise State University cross country/track coach, then a school nurse in Boise.[7][8]

NCAA

Marisa Vander Malle become Marisa Howard while a Boise State Broncos in the summer of 2013.[9] Howard is a 3-time NCAA Division 1 All-American distance runner[10] and turned professional after her podium finish at 2015 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the steeplechase.[11] Howard finished her Boise State career with four individual Mountain West Championships titles and 11 All-Mountain West Conference Championships honors.[12]
