Jaydon Blue (born January 8, 2004)[1] is an American football running back for the Texas Longhorns.

Early life and high school

Blue attended Klein Cain High School. During his sophomore season, Blue rushed for 1,612 yards and 16 touchdowns on 205 carries.[2] In his junior season, Blue had a career season, rushing for 2,155 yards and 30 touchdowns.[3] Before heading into his senior season, Blue decided to opt out of the season to prepare for college football.[4] Coming out of high school, Blue was rated as a four-star recruit, the 48th overall recruit, and the 3rd overall running back in the class of 2022.[5] Blue also held offers from schools such as Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Texas.[6] Ultimately, Blue decided to commit to play college football for the Texas Longhorns.[7][8]

College career

In Blue's first collegiate season in 2022, he rushed just 15 times for 33 yards.[9][10] In the 2023 regular-season finale, Blue rushed ten times for a career-high 121 yards and a touchdown in a blowout win over Texas Tech.[11] During the 2024 Sugar Bowl, Blue rushed nine times for 59 yards, while also telling four receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown, while also returning three kickoffs for 80 yards versus Washington.[12] Blue finished the 2023 season, notching 398 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, while also hauling in 14 receptions for 135 yards.[13][14]
